The Bird and Coast Ride
Thames to Kaiaua - 55km - 5.5 to 7 Hours
The Bird and Coast Ride - 1 Day Tour
Starting from Thames, ride along the arts trail, a collection of sculptures installed by the Thames Art Trust. Shortly after, you'll cross the Kopu Bridge and join onto Section A of the Hauraki Rail Trail.
Ride through open farmland and mangroves, take the occasional saddle break and stop at one of the shelters for a read up on the history and wildlife in the local area. About halfway into your journey, enjoy a well-earned cafe stop(Morning tea voucher included).
Following the trail as it hugs the shoreline, pop into the Miranda Pukorokoro Shorebird Centre for some bird watching. Take a look at the native birds that call our Little Firth home or even catch a glimpse of one of the migratory bird species that temporarily reside here.
Once you are ready, go the short distance to your final destination, Kaiaua. A small village with stunning views where you get your choice of fish & chips or a pub meal ( Voucher of $25 p.p. included). Afterwards, you'll be collected and transported back to Thames.
